The 7-Day Prayer Guide
Seven minutes a day for seven days. One step closer to Him.
“O LORD, in the morning you hear my voice; in the morning I prepare a sacrifice for you and watch.”
You do not need an hour. You need seven honest minutes and a willing heart. Each day below has one verse, one focus, and a short prayer. Read the verse slowly, sit with the focus for a few minutes, then pray the prayer in your own words. If you miss a day, pick up where you left off. God is not keeping score.
How to use this guide
- Pick the same time each day. First thing in the morning works for most people.
- Put your phone on silent and set a timer for seven minutes.
- Read the verse twice, once to understand it and once to let it land.
- Pray the prayer out loud or in a whisper, then add your own words.
Day 1
Come as you are
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28 Focus: Jesus does not ask you to clean up before you come. Name what you are carrying today. Be specific. Then picture setting it down.
Jesus, I am coming to You just as I am. Here is what I am carrying. I give it to You and I ask for Your rest. Amen.
Day 2
He is near
“Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you.”
James 4:8a Focus: God is not far away and hard to reach. Every step you take toward Him, He meets you. Take one small step today by simply saying His name.
Father, I want to be close to You. I am taking this step toward You today. Thank You for coming near to me. Amen.
Day 3
Trade worry for peace
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
Philippians 4:6-7 Focus: Write down three worries. For each one, ask God for help and thank Him for one thing. Watch what happens to your heart.
Lord, these are my worries. I bring each one to You with thanks. Guard my heart and mind with Your peace today. Amen.
Day 4
Forgiven and free
“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
1 John 1:9 Focus: Confession is not about shame. It is about freedom. Tell God honestly where you fell short, then receive His forgiveness without arguing with it.
Father, I confess this to You. Thank You that You are faithful to forgive and to make me clean. I receive Your mercy today. Amen.
Day 5
Carry someone else
“Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.”
Galatians 6:2 Focus: Think of one person who is hurting right now. Pray for them by name. Then visit the prayer wall and pray for someone you have never met.
Lord, I lift up this person to You. Meet them where they are today. Give them strength, comfort, and hope. Amen.
Day 6
Listen
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10a Focus: Spend most of today's seven minutes in silence. You do not have to fill the space. Let God speak, and notice what comes to mind.
God, I am quiet before You. Speak, Lord. I am listening. Amen.
Day 7
Give thanks
“Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!”
Psalm 107:1 Focus: Look back over this week. Where did God meet you? Write down at least three things you are thankful for. If God answered a prayer, share it on the Give Thanks page.
Father, thank You for this week. Thank You for hearing me and loving me. Help me keep coming back to You every day. Amen.
Seven days is a beginning, not a finish line. Keep going with the daily guided prayers on the Closer to the Father YouTube channel, and come back to the prayer wall anytime you need prayer or want to pray for someone else.
