Bible Verses About Fear

Fear shrinks when you remember who is standing with you.

Below are 7 verses for fear. Read each one slowly, then use the short note under it to turn the verse into a prayer. You do not need special words. Just be honest with God.

  1. Isaiah 41:10

    “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

    How to pray it: Read it back to God as a promise: "You are with me, You will strengthen me, You will hold me up."

  2. Psalm 56:3

    “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

    How to pray it: Make this your one-line prayer the moment fear shows up.

  3. 2 Timothy 1:7

    “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

    How to pray it: Ask God to replace your fear with His power, His love, and a steady mind.

  4. Psalm 27:1

    “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

    How to pray it: Name what you fear, then answer it with this verse.

  5. Joshua 1:9

    “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.”

    How to pray it: Tell God where you are going today and thank Him that He is already there.

  6. Psalm 23:4

    “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

    How to pray it: Describe your valley to God and thank Him that you are not walking it alone.

  7. 1 John 4:18a

    “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear.”

    How to pray it: Ask God to show you how much He loves you until fear has less room.
