Bible Verses for Strength

When you are running on empty, His strength is not.

Below are 7 verses for strength. Read each one slowly, then use the short note under it to turn the verse into a prayer. You do not need special words. Just be honest with God.

  1. Isaiah 40:31

    “But they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

    How to pray it: Wait quietly before God for two minutes, and ask Him to renew you.

  2. Isaiah 40:29

    “He gives power to the faint, and to him who has no might he increases strength.”

    How to pray it: Tell God you are tired, and ask Him for power you do not have.

  3. Philippians 4:13

    “I can do all things through him who strengthens me.”

    How to pray it: Name the hard thing ahead of you and ask Christ to strengthen you for it.

  4. 2 Corinthians 12:9

    “But he said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”

    How to pray it: Admit your weakness to God and invite His power to rest on you.

  5. Psalm 46:1

    “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”

    How to pray it: Run to God first, before you run anywhere else.

  6. Nehemiah 8:10b

    “The joy of the LORD is your strength.”

    How to pray it: Ask God to restore your joy, because that is where your strength comes from.

  7. Psalm 73:26

    “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”

    How to pray it: Thank God that He is enough, even when your body and heart feel weak.
