Bible Verses for Anxiety

When your mind will not settle, bring the worry to God one piece at a time.

Below are 6 verses for anxiety. Read each one slowly, then use the short note under it to turn the verse into a prayer. You do not need special words. Just be honest with God.

  1. Philippians 4:6-7

    “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

    How to pray it: Name each worry out loud, thank God for one good thing, and ask Him to guard your heart.

  2. 1 Peter 5:7

    “Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.”

    How to pray it: Picture handing each burden to Him, and say, "You care for me, so I give this to You."

  3. Matthew 6:34

    “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”

    How to pray it: Ask God only for what you need today, and leave tomorrow in His hands.

  4. John 14:27

    “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

    How to pray it: Ask Jesus for His peace, not the world's, and receive it before you ask for anything else.

  5. Isaiah 26:3

    “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.”

    How to pray it: Each time your thoughts race, pull them back with one sentence: "Lord, I trust You."

  6. Psalm 94:19

    “When the cares of my heart are many, your consolations cheer my soul.”

    How to pray it: Tell God honestly how many cares you carry, then ask Him to comfort your soul.
